MediaCon: two truths from the dean

Howard Dean says at least two important and true things here: (1) "The way to deal with a leader is to be another leader, and to be strong in your views and present the American people with a choice"; (2) "For me, when the Cumulus Corporation, which owns a lot of radio stations, kicked the Dixie Chicks off their networks – a couple hundred radio stations – I realized that media corporations have too much power."

Good to see you looking into Dean some more, Professor Lessig.

He also elaborated on these points in more detail in his recent interview with Truth Out:

From the PATRIOT Act, to media consolidation, to black box voting, it's clear that Dean Gets It(tm). He's on the ball and his campaign is listening to and responding to his supporters.

I was interested to see this; I have becoming more and more profoundly skeptical of the political process as I watch the relative public success of the Bush admin. Howard Dean seems like an interesting guy and most important seems willing to take the fight to the current admin in an articulate forceful way. It would be interesting to seem him articulate some views on the recent FCC moves, the DMCA and Eldred. In some ways this might be the best way to get the Eldred Act into the public debate, though having said that how viable is Dean as a long term participant in the debate?

It would be interesting to seem him articulate some views on the recent FCC moves, the DMCA and Eldred.
