This was originally done by Dan Hess over at venisproductions.com which was brought to its knees by the amazing amount of bandwidth consumed when the meme hit the big time... His site's been down for a couple of weeks now, probably to avoid racking up any more bandwidth charges. But it is a perfect example of making something new out of older stuff, isn't it? People may also want to check out some of the similar stuff over at Doki Doki Productions.

Glad to hear that it was bandwidth costs rather than legal action that took the original off line... though I guess it could have cost about the same amount of money. Heh.

If you've ever seen Smallville, you might enjoy http://www.rapturesandroses.com/smallwars.zip (Windows Media) -- the synching is pretty impressive.

This strikes a great avenue for making important issues of content management in times of threating forever-copyright, visible to more poeple. Creating digital pieces from mixing highly protected mass media into social messages educating and promoting a move to a healthier public domain, might ride the mass media's protest into the view of the general public. Could it be that the poeple might persuade the mass media to see a different model for themselves. After all, we are all in this together.

truly delightful!

This type of mixing has been going on for a while. There are a lot of "music videos" done with anime. There's a pretty funny one done with Pikachu singing a Mindless Self Indulgence song.

This is truly delightful. Thanks for giving us the link to enjoy before it gets cease-and-desisted.

A few years ago my best friend designed a full deck of Tarot cards based on images from Peanuts cartoons beautifully and hilariously blended with scenes from the classic Rider-Waite Tarot deck. The results were online all too briefly before he got the inevitable threat from a lawyer. A few of the images can still be seen here: http://tinyurl.com/25cuj

I have one of only two copies of the deck in the form of actual physical Tarot cards--and united features syndicate can have them when they pry them out of my cold dead hands.

Wonderful! Still smiling. Thank you.

Very well done. I'm a big Peanuts fan and hope that the Shultz estate can see that this can only add to his memory. Nice to see the gang dancing again.

Dan Hess wrote on his comic website, Angel Moxie (http://www.venisproductions.com/angelmoxie/) that he and every mirror received a cease and desist from United Media.

FWIW, it was easy to find this video with a basic Gnutella client by searching for the file name: heyyacb.mov

But, this was a very obvious copyright infringement of current content -- very cute, nonetheless.

FWIW, I had (shockingly) never hear the song before (not a mainstream radio fan). Now it's been in my head so constantly since downloading the vid, I've bought it from iTunes.

Wait for the cat to jump. hide away
