The Changing of the Guard
Tim having vacated the premises early, I thought I should accelerate my entry, especially to correct his statement that "Eight Heads in a Duffel Bag" is my favorite movie. It was my favorite movie, but that was before I saw "The Matrix," which is my current favorite (though just the first of the three Matrix films), and which seems to me a portent of one of the directions in which technology is moving us. The social and legal impact of technology is going to be the principal theme of my week as Larry's guest blogger.

The Matrix is my favorite movie, too -- at least until they made the 2 sequels, only one of which I could stand watching. They should have stopped with No. 1.
"The Matrix" - not just the first one but all three
parts - is also my favorite movie. It raises a host
of metaphysical and ethical questions on the meaning
of humanity and the interaction between people,
reality, machine, and technology. I shudder to think
what the future will look like if we get too close
to the machine. The movie is a good reminder of what
we would become if we are not the master of the
technologies.
I want to mention the other DVD "Animatrix". It
contains nine short animated films, some of which
are very violent. Some of the films provide
background for "The Matrix". The DVD also includes
comments by the artists. A good addition to "The
Matrix" if you are inclined to know more about it.

Indeed, 8 Heads is a classic. I ought to see if I can get it on R2 DVD...
I thought I had read, in the New Yorker profile, that your favorite movie was That Darn Cat.

Is there any chance you might, one day, maintain a regular blog? JudgePosner.com, or something to that extent? It would become a top-ranked legal blog overnight, and would contribute an immeasurable quantity of knowledge and insight to the legal community--and world at large. I know there are restrictions on what Federal Judges are supposed to discuss in public, but your guest-blogger stint here will certainly prove that those limits would not be a hinderance at all. Please do consider it, and thank you, Your Honor, for taking the time to share your thoughts with us, even if it is only for a week or so.
I never did get, why at the end of the first matrix movie, after the enemy code was defeated, not all the people where flushed down the toilet, err, bath tub. all hail neo! should this be a commercial for going to church more often?
