the good of McCain

Sorry for the silence re HR 4077, but it took sometime to get this cleared. Anyway, as you may have read, Hatch's plan was stalled by a couple Senators placing a "hold" on his effort to do as I reported before. Here's McCain's statement, and a letter from Consumers Union and Public Knowledge.

I find it hard to believe that a man as well versed as Lawrence Lessig would overlook the fact that INDUCE was clearly a BI-PARTISAN bill. Shouldn't he be giving credit to people like Hillary Clinton, Patrick Leahy, Barbara Boxer, Tom Daschle etc. I too believe that INDUCE too broadly restricts technology in the guise of protecting copyright, but it is a gross distortion of reality to place the blame of the bill solely on the party Mr. Lessig doesnt agree with politically.

Besides, the word on the street is that INDUCE was Leahy's baby.
