EFF has launched a badge campaign for bloggers. It's doing the great work of defending blogger rights. CC's has some new badges contributed to its campaign. CC's work is to help bloggers make transparent those rights.

Support one. Support both. (EFF) (CC)

Supporting Google print makes sense to me
Supporting CC and voluntary partial relinquishment of exorbitant copyright rights makes sense to me
Supporting fair use and opposing the media companies' campaign to limit it makes sense to me

Where did "bloggers' rights" come from, and why should anyone other than bloggers care?

TO:

"Bloggers' Rights" is a campaign to create more awareness about the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law that restricts speech for political contributory reasons. There are exceptions in a reporting sense for this, but only for the old media forms (newspapers, television, radio), while new media reporting (blogs) remain excluded from the exceptions.

You should care about this because it's not merely those with blogs that would be affected, as all internet communications are currently under the FEC law bubble. I personally think the law as written is an abridgment of free speech and would create a sincere problem in the future.

Anyway, the EFF's campaign is to join and support them (through a financial donation), as they have been the main fighters in the battle for internet free speech rights (which I believe we already have, but just need Congress to step in and say, "Hey, wait a minute, duh").

I am not terribly versed in the nuance (or even huge swaths) of this, so if I've misstated anything or am leaving out vital details, I would ask forgiveness and encourage anyone with more knowledge to state it further.

It is one of the best blogs, ihave come across. keep it up...

By entering the words in the box, you are also helping to digitize texts that were written before the computer age. The words that you see were taken directly from old texts that are being scanned and stored by the Internet Archive. This CAPTCHA helps proofread the books. If the sample is too hard to read, click the recycle button to get another two. A space between each word is required. And thanks for the comment and help.
